Pick Your Plum


I don’t know how many people know about this, but everyone needs to know. Somewhere in blogland I stumbled across a picture of something cute super informative, I know  } and it all came back to Pick Your Plum. So I thought I’d check it out, as I love new blogs and really love new blogs with awesome looking pictures.

It’s not a blog! It’s better! It’s a place to find ah-mazing deals on awesome things. And it’s like a mini-competition because there are only so many of each awesome deal and when they’re gone… they’re gone. It’s like Black Friday shopping every day!!

Such a thing as Too Crafty?


I don’t know about the rest of you, my my craftiness is directly tied to my cheapness. I look at magazines or catalogs and ooh and ahh over all the pretty things, then I see the price tag… and I laugh and laugh. People really pay $25 for a chevron picture frame. C’mon! $10 max } and you can make it in any color/shape/size you want.  Bethany did! Click the photo for her tutorial.

$60 and $70 for a pillow?! Singular. As in just one. Pillows are, like, the first thing you learn to sew. You can do it!

Just Another Shirt Re-do


Funny story. I haven’t actually made anything yet, and don’t have a specific idea in mind. I was looking at my { many } t-shirts this morning before work, and decided to do something to one of them. That was as far as I got before getting myself and my little sleepyhead ready and out the door. Can’t wait to get home and come up with something awesome!

Sweet! I now know what to do. While helping my little sister & her husband move in to their new house, I accidentally got bleach on my really awesome purple tank top. Like a good little crafter, I didn’t throw it away, but instead washed it & put it up in my Do Something collection. It’s a box of things that are no longer in mint condition, but are still structurally sound.

For this Re-do, I’m using:

  • The shirt
  • A bleach pen
  • Spray bottle with fabric dye bleach
  • Fabric rosettes


Almost a week later… }

I got excited and forgot to take a “before” picture. I just started spraying my tank top with bleach water.


Then I decided to sprinkle some straight bleach on it.

{Marathon Mayhem} I think I skipped a week


I worked a lot of overtime this week, so my days are a little or a lot } jumbled. I did a quick glance at my calendar, and I’m pretty sure I missed last week. So let me catch everyone up.
PhotobucketIt’s not bad progress. I mean, it’s more than I was exercising before. I just want to be more active. Even I should have 15 minutes a day to do something that could count as a workout. A few of these “success” days were running with my son out in the yard. 30 minutes of playing with a toddler definitely counts as exercise in my book.

The trickier part for me is eating. I eat like I’m pregnant. That doesn’t mean “eating for two” or any other cliche about overeating. I get food swings. One day nothing will sound good at all, so I usually end up drinking a lot of coffee that day. Other days { like today } I get a really strong craving, and that’s all I want. Today it was wings from Domino’s. In addition to an order of wings, I ate half a Chicken Parm sandwich, had Coke to drink, and I’m about to “wash it down” with a Reese’s.

I don’t even know what goals to set for the next week. I think the weather forecast shows it cooler than it has been lately, so hopefully I can get out and walk. I wish the mosquitoes weren’t so bad at my house, I’d take the kiddo for an evening stroll. There are several factors that prevent that. Mosquitoes, and the fact that every bite I get swells to the size of a 50 cent piece that’s big for those of you who are too young to know what one looks like } plus when I work our evenings are hectic at best, and lastly people in the country drive twice the speed limit and usually don’t see what’s in front of them until they hit it… I have a dislike for being anyone’s speed-bump.

Looks like more living room wrestling with “mine” I’ve decided to start calling him that since it’s his new favorite word } and probably less food swings. I’m already not excited for this coming week.

Fat Quarter Shop Fabric Bundle {Giveaway} and a side of rambling


Even though this is going to hurt my chances of winning, everyone should go check out this giveaway on my friend Vanessa’s blog.

I love, love all these bundles from the Fat Quarter Shop. If I had the funds available to me, oh the inventory I would take off their hands! Of course, there’s that pesky craft room I need to finish -ahem- start. I need to stay focused, because I could, in all honesty, re-do room after room in my house with ideas from fabric. I might have a small addiction to color. This always makes me laugh because when I first moved in with my husband, his entire house was beige. Contractor beige. I quickly changed that. And the new house is in the process of getting more color all the time. It’s a good thing that he has made me promise to finish one room before I start another, or I would be changing paint colors all over every year. He has said he doesn’t mind me changing up accessories as the mood strikes. And with the whole world of knickknacks and pillows and colors { Oh, my! } the possibilities are infinite! I mean, just look at all these gorgeous colors in the Water 2012 Kaffe Fassett Bundle. I love all those rich colors, and I can’t even begin to count all of the projects I could find { especially with thirty, 3-0, fat quarters in that bundle } mmm… I think I could justify every red cent.

But I’m getting side tracked. { Me? No way. } The bundle that is up for the giveaway is the Song Bird Fat Quarter Bundle. It has lots of fun, bold patterns that I think are adorable. With my nine nieces and nephews { and counting… } I’m sure I could make something to please each one from this bundle. So, everyone fingers crossed that my name is pulled… but I totally understand if you go grab this super cute giveaway for yourself.


When in doubt, Craft it out


I’ve been feeling really funky today. I’m generally a pleasant person, but I’ve got some family drama { that I won’t bore you with, because I’m sure you have plenty } and it has me… sour. I can’t think of another way of putting it, either. So I decided to craft my blues away. I have some glass stones from my wedding that I decided to decoupage… but I don’t have my Mod Podge with me. So I found this “Dimensional Silicone” adhesive type stuff. So far it’s working just fine. The downside is that where Mod Podge is dry in a few hours, this takes 24. I don’t have that kind of patience, so I will be reminding myself for the rest of the day to leave the rocks alone.I apologize in advance for the poor quality of my pictures. I have a stupidphone and fluorescent lighting… yuck.

I am planning on making several variations of these monogrammed stones, different colors, patterns, maybe some paint… We’ll just have to see what I can come up with.

I’m a little behind on my holiday decorations. Since the 4th is in three days, I might be cutting it a little close. At least I got it done before the 5th, right?

I found this really great Fourth of July Printable over on Landee See, Landee Do.


I am kind of in love with bunting right now, so this was an instant “gotta have it.” I wanted to take it just a step further… 3D bunting.

Here’s what you need:

  • 2 copies of Landee’s printable (I used 8×10)
  • scissors
  • glue stick
  • frame (I haven’t made it that far, yet.)

The first copy will be kept intact. For the second copy, cut out the bunting.
GodBless_8x10-croppedThen, slightly curl each triangle tip. I just ran each one between my thumb and an ink pen.

Glue the red “strip” directly on top it’s twin on the first copy of the printable.

Find a frame of your liking (I may mount mine without a frame… not sure yet.)
